Dear IDPOA members – just a message to wish you a very merry Christmas, whether you are at sea or home. The past year has been extremely tough and challenging, so here is hoping that 2016 can bring peace, prosperity…and new jobs for those who have suffered from the downturn.

General Electric (GE) has reinvested in its dynamic positioning (DP) training school in Houston, USA in reaction to the changing requirements from offshore and maritime sectors. GE Marine Solutions has moved the Marine Technical Center to a larger facility in the Westway Plaza, Houston, and added new simulators. Read the rest of this entry

A former Louisiana maritime instructor was indicted on federal charges for allegedly accepting cash payments to fraudulently certify individuals on critical maritime infrastructure equipment for which they they never actually completed training. The charges in the Eastern District of Louisiana follow an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the U.S. Coast Guard Investigative Service.
