KONGSBERG WRESTLES THE MARKET

According to news reports, Kongsberg Maritime is set to cut another 100 jobs, due to company’s reduced activities in offshore sectors and low number of new orders. The company will following the social agreements in the employment contracts. Most of the job cuts will be from the Kongsberg facilities, although other locations will be covered too. HANDY GUIDE TO OFFSHORE OPERATIONS

DNV GL has provided a handy guide to offshore drilling and operations. According to their guidance, typically offshore operations fall into one of three categories, Shallow water operations, where water-depth is smaller than 1,000ft, deep-water where water-depth is deeper than 1,000ft but under 5,000ft and, finally, ultra-deep water is anything over 5,000ft.
